EXT. EVENING

The guests arrive, each carrying something for the host. Some hold wine bottles, some flowers.

One rings the doorbell.

CHATTER OF GUESTS.

THE HOST opens the door.

>>>HOST

>>(warmly to the guests)

>>Hello, hello.

INT. DINING ROOM

ROBERTA puts down her flowers on the table and notices O1.

>>>ROBERTA (V.O.)

>It’s smaller than a typical wine glass, slightly unusual.

JEREMYN points his finger at O5; it seems to have its stoic eyes on him.

>>>JEREMYN

>Are… they staring at me?

>>>ROBERTA

>Who?

JEREMYN grabs one of them, the one with the mustache.

MARIA B. opens a bottle of red with J1-P, pouring for JEREMYN and CLARA.

THE HOST walks over to the stereo and puts Jussu Mix.1 on shuffle.

MUSIC CUE: “POURQUOI TU ME FOUS PLUS DES COUPS? - RADIO EDIT” by An Luu

>>>JEREMYN

>I wonder what the cue object is.

>>>ROBERTA

>The clue’s always in a song. Not sure which one, though.

MARIA B. taps her fingers on the table and sings along — she knows French.

>>>MARIA B.

>>>(singing)

>Pourquoi, pourquoi, pourquoi, pourquoi!

>Tu n’m’aimes plus du tout!

BEGIN MONTAGE:

— A cork rolls across the table, stopping near O3.

— CLARA refills her glass; a drop trails down the bottle.

— A fingertip traces a ring of condensation beside O14.

— The stereo light blinks red as the next song begins.

— Guests’ faces flicker and ripple in the glass of a framed J1-A.

END MONTAGE.

>>>CLARA

>>(to HOST)

>Can I smoke here?

THE HOST sets O4 on the table in front of her.

>>>HOST

>Just make sure to ash here.
